today was a busy day...i spent it working on the "albatross" a commissioned portrait that lies heavy on my easel. very tedious and very technical...the portrait part is completed, but the subject is sitting on a vintage motorcycle reproduction, so there lies the task.... by the end of the day all i wanted to do was drop down and veg with a glass of wine...but i was reminded by someone quite unexpected that i need to keep my commitment. so....i cast about for what to paint and i spied this broken skull of undetermined origin and decided that i would apply the half hour time limit and see what i could do. after working all day on a piece that is very detailed and tedious, this project threw me into an immediate alter universe of sorts. i liked the juxtaposition...although i'm not altogether unpleased with the result, it does show me a little more about how i organize my observational conclusions. i'm excited about visiting this subject and time limit again. so, today's "leftovers" Tags: acrylic, half hour, leftovers, one a day, painting, skull, time limit
